Our Lady and Sheen

On Leuvan and waffles

If I could fall in love with one city all over again, it would be Leuven. I went there to get a feeling for the things Archbishop Sheen would have experienced while studying at the Higher Institute of Philosophy, but came away with so much more.

I ended up seeing St. Peeterkerk, the huge church near Stadhuis, the American college, and also the tomb of St. Damian of Molokai! It was very amazing!

They were celebrating a festival of the longest day of the year, the Saturday before St. John’s feast day, the 21st. The music was great and I had a waffle “met shalgroom” which made the old lady tell the young woman that I said it well, that made me blush brightly! The waffles were delicious!

Archbishop Sheen, pray for us!
