Our Lady and Sheen

Madrid, Jesus and Luther

At World Youth Day, 2011 (registration now open), Eucharistic Adoration on August 20th will have a sign of the everlasting nature of the Church.  Pope Benedict the XVI will lead adoration in front of a Monstrance that was completed in AD 1524, and begun in 1513.  Check it out here!

To put this beautiful (and big) Monstrance in perspective, 1515 was:

2 years before Luther began his church

19 years before the Anglican church

45 years before the Presbyterians

97 years before the Baptists

261 years before the Declaration of Independence

272 years before the Methodists

399 years before the Assemblies of God

and most importantly, 1482 years AFTER Jesus prayed that we would all be ONE.

Something to think about when we begin having doubts that the Church that Christ founded on St. Peter would not have the gates of hell prevail against it.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.

Our Lady, mother of the Church, Pray for us.
