I had the honor of attending the Colloquia put on at Ave Maria University on February 27, 2013 in honor of the (then) Pope Benedict XVI. Father Lamb (right) was absolutely amazing in his address of Pope Benedict’s Regensberg lecture. I had never seen the talk in the light that Fr. Lamb put it, mainly because I only heard it through the main stream media. It turns out that since his speech Islamic scholars have been sent from Jordan and Saudi Arabia to discuss philosophy with Catholic thinkers in the Vatican. Maybe I’m the only one who didn’t know that!

Dr. Waldstein was also incredible. He spoke of his time knowing H.E. Cardinal Ratzinger, and working with him as a theologian. The stories were absolutely incredible and showed the love that our Pope Emeritus has for the people. Also, Dr. Waldstein’s humility was great. In speaking of the Synod on the Holy Scriptures, he said he had the last seat in the last row, and the seats were given out hierarchically fashion. His only response to that was, “It was very easy to get out to use the restroom!”

Finally Mr. Anthony Valle spoke, and this was very personal. Cardinal Ratzinger had witnessed his wedding. Absolutely incredible. Mr. Valle also said that following John Paul the Great, that he thinks that Card. Ratzinger, being very kind, personable, but also not liking to be in the public eye may be called “Benedict the Little,” in reference to the humility that he showed in serving the 8 years he did, in a job that he would never have wanted. (Benedict the Little = Benedict the Humble)

I really appreciate the fact that this was a student organized event, by the household Filii in Filio. It turned out to be a good idea on the Sunday before the Pope’s announcement to look into having a colloquia on the Papacy!

Venerable Fulton Sheen, who spoke well of Jesus Christ and His Church, pray for us!

Our Lady, Mother of the Church, Pray for us!

Eternal and ever-living God, raise up for us a new Shepherd for the Church!
